We’ve written to all tenants to ask their views on transferring the ownership of their homes from Leazes Homes to Karbon Homes.

Reason for the proposal

It’s now been over two years since Karbon began providing services on our behalf. During this time, tenant satisfaction levels have improved significantly. Being part of a larger organisation has brought real benefits, particularly in customer service and the longer term financial sustainability and security that supports the services you receive.

Our aim has always been to deliver more for our tenants. We believe that transferring the ownership of our homes to Karbon Homes would provide further benefits for tenants and for the wider Newcastle community.

What it would mean for you

The main difference for you is that Karbon Homes would be your named landlord instead of Leazes Homes. Importantly:
– Your services would remain the same – you would continue to access them in the same way as you do now, with no disruption to the services you receive.
– You’d keep the current terms and conditions of your tenancy.
– The way your rent is calculated will not change and will continue to follow government rules and guidance from the Regulator of Social Housing.
